I never needed anything different before. I worked from home, where I have access to computers. I didn’t make enough money to afford anything better, anyway. I only used the cell to receive calls from my husband, who’s on the road constantly, and to text him with things like, “We’re at the library with tons of books - u home soon to pick us up?”
But my new job requires me to have a good appointment book and I often have an hour and a half downtime in the middle of the day. I’ve been borrowing my son’s iPod and have become addicted to Words With Friends at lunch, but have no Wi-Fi during the downtime, so I play other word games. I’d tweet if I could.
Do I want an iPhone? Is there an Android equivalent that would be cheaper?
My husband needs map programs and doesn’t care about social networking or word games.
What’s the point of a Blackberry? They’re very popular with people at work, but are they mainly for texting?

And of all the ones I checked the Samsung Nexus S seemed to be the best one.

I’ve been checking out new phones 4 a long time (getting a new one). Android is much better for a fraction of the price compared to iphone.

Thank you, I have been meaning to pose the same question, as I am ready to get a smart phone, but didn’t know what to go for.

I got my iPhone a few weeks ago and it wasn`t a huge difference in price to the Androids. Beware: You will fall in love with it, and it`s impossible to put down sometimes.

I’m a fan of Apple’s walled garden approach. Everything is just that much more polished. It’s kinda like Helvetica vs Arial.

blackberries are good for emails and some people think they make you look a little more grown up than an iphone would. I recommend Android!

I have the original Droid and I love it, but it’s not exactly user friendly. However, it was way cheaper than an iPhone at the time. Honestly, you’ll fall in love with whatever smartphone you buy and you’ll forget what life was like before you had it

The iphone is awesome and a Droid really isn’t that much cheaper (I’ve had both & learning to love the Droid), almost any carrier you go with and sign a contract with will practically give you a phone. Just test out a few that you like.

I recommend an iPhone; all the twitter apps are pretty good on the iPhone. I like the Map app that comes with the iPhone (based upon google maps); but your mileage may vary there. There are other useful apps too.

Blackberry’s are old school, and they’re trying to catch up with iPhones & Androids. iPhones are great, but they drop calls. I’d go w Android
